Each week on the Tavour app, we highlight top-notch beers from independent craft breweries across the U.S. — and sometimes even from abroad! Here are just a few of the sought-after IPAs we shared with beer lovers recently. Have you scheduled your beer delivery yet?
Untitled Art Brewing - Sweet and Sour Grapefruit IPA
When it comes to mouth-watering delicacies that push beer drinkers’ palates, the brewers at Untitled Art are practically 3-star Michelin chefs.
From chocolate macaroon-inspired pastry sippers to brews that taste like raspberry cheesecake, these experts aren’t afraid to take risks! And, with this brand-new Sweet and Sour Grapefruit IPA, they put their culinary prowess on full display!
To make it, they dosed a Kettle Sour IPA base with the juices of grapefruits, pineapples, and apples.
These juices blend together like a surprising match made in heaven. This is what you call a JUICEbomb!
It drinks with Orange Julius-like thickness, while a tongue-tingling, tangy sweetness hangs on every sip. A gentle, tart zing mingles with spritzy blasts of white grapefruit citrus and bold, tropical flavors before opening up to the pleasant bitterness of the Vic Secret Hops.
Old Nation Brewing Co. - Boss Tweed - Imperial New England IPA
It seems like the whole craft universe is after a sip from Old Nation.
Whenever we get a little stash of their beer, it disappears before we even get a chance to crack a can. And in Michigan, folks drive through miles of cornfields to tiny Williamston just to snag cans at the brewery’s laid-back pub!
Crack open a pint of Boss Tweed Imperial IPA to understand why.
Citrus aromas from Magnum, Simcoe, Citra, Mosaic, and Azacca Hops tantalize the senses. Each sip lets your tastebuds swim through gentle waves of ripe mango, dripping peach, and bright tangerine. And the body is so soft you won’t taste a trace of the whopping 9.3% ABV!
This brew scores a massive 97/100 on BeerAdvocate, and over 70,000 fans have rated it a towering 4.30 on Untappd.
That’s some serious clout!
Anchorage Brewing Company - The Sorcerer - IPA
- Hop-cantation: A magical blend of Cashmere and Galaxy in both the boil and the dry hop.
- Spellbinding Flavors: Melon and pithy grapefruit dance delightfully with passionfruit and ripe peach!
- Magical Mouthfeel: Fluffy and soft!
Anchorage Brewing’s head brewer Gabe Fletcher has achieved legendary wizard status.
This is the guy who helped conjure Alaskan craft beer onto the mainstage, despite some 1,400 miles separating his state from the rest of the U.S. His is the brewery whose reputation Thrillist says, “precedes it as one of the best breweries in the game on a national level, let alone in Alaska.”
And, even though it’s been a few years since we first secured some of Gabe’s enchanting stashes for Tavour, his hopbombs continue to mesmerize. Just check out The Sorcerer!
This magical DDH beauty tastes like a smooth, multi-fruit sorbet garnished with citrus rind — and stunningly, it’s all from the hops.
It’s an entrancing example of why Sip Magazine calls out Anchorage for crafting “some of the most coveted pours on the global craft scene!” But, like most of the brewery’s creations, Tavour is the only way to summon it in the lower 48 states.
Best of Hands Barrelhouse - Abaculus - New England IPA
Some brewery names are inside jokes, some are family names, and others are pop culture references. But Best of Hands Barrelhouse is refreshingly straightforward — the brewers want you to know that by drinking their beer, you’re in the best of hands.
That’s why they brew in small batches, focusing on precision. It’s also why they use ingredients sourced locally from the Pacific Northwest.
Case in point: Abaculus. The brewers use “massive amounts of Mosaic” and doses of Citra Hops alongside pale malts from Washington’s Skagit Valley. They also add Imperial A24 yeast blend to make the fresh-cut fruit aromas more vivid, as well as flaked oats for a full, pillowy mouthfeel.
The results are positively juicy and dank! The Mosaic delivers tropical pineapple and mango kush character, while the Citra adds delicious whispers of pithy grapefruit and tangerine. A waft of pine resin comes in on the finish. Every sip is deliciously complex and tastes like it was crafted with care.
Ology Brewing Co x Outer Range Brewing Company - Side Fridge - New England IPA
If you’re going to be anywhere near Tallahassee, Florida anytime soon, we highly recommend checking out Ology Brewing’s brand new beer garden.
There, you can kick back at one of the (socially distanced) tables with friends, enjoy the shade of the rustling trees, and sip a pint of their tropical fruity Side Fridge IPA.
Alternatively, you can turn your own garage refrigerator into a taproom and have a beer garden of your own, right on the front porch! Or, maybe you’d rather post-up indoors by the fireplace.
With Side Fridge, it doesn’t matter where you are — its flavors of fresh-squeezed OJ, tropical pineapple, drippy passionfruit, and touch of pithy grapefruit bitterness will have you so chilled out, you’ll practically hear the rustling palms from your living room. The brewers squeezed all that sunny flavor out of Strata, Hallertau Mittelfruh, and a special blend of Southern Hemisphere cones from Revolution Hops in New Zealand.
If you detect a bit of piney aroma, like a Rocky Mountain breeze, it could be because Ology developed this brew with their pals at Colorado’s Outer Range. USA Today named these hop-masters one of the best new breweries in the entire country just 2 years ago!
